Anomaa is a folktale film fusing lore within Britain and AfroCaribbean tales. Ede and other mystical characters journey in attempt to bargain their freedom from the Sky God’s looping forest.
For Anomaa, I was responsible for conceptualising the characters’ looks, from costume to makeup, sourcing all outfits used in the film. I collaborated with another costume designer, who created Bwa’s cape (seen in the 5th image), while I handled the rest of the wardrobe, including purchasing and styling.
I also managed the props budget and sourced key elements for the set. Working closely with the director, I brought her vision to life by executing the set plan that she had made with the help of a team of set dressers. I liaised with a prop maker to create the enchanted book featured in the film – inspired from Snow White (1937), where it opens by itself on screen.
On set, I styled and did makeup for the cast, transforming each actor into their character and making sure every detail aligned with the world we were building.
At the age of 15, Suna comes home from school to realise that she has been married off to a stranger. Her dreams of becoming an architect fall apart as she is forced to move into her fatherin-law’s house.
For Fifteen, I was responsible for assisting with the set dressing for a Turkish household, making fixes between each take to ensure continuity and also assisted with hair and makeup.
I also was in charge of the wardrobe, assigning the costumes to each actor for the specific scene that would be filmed, again ensuring continuity by taking pictures of costumes & makeup.
I have assisted with styling on shoots for the fashion brand
‘Primmabay’. I communicated with the Creative Director/Founder to refine final looks.
I had adjusted the outfits for each model to maintain consistency, organised the dresses to its appropriate size and assisted with posing.
For Eclipse, I was the Production Designer, I set dressed the bedroom and sourced a few props within the bedroom and also within the studio such as the stationery and bedroom details. I had also done outfit/make-up checks on the artist between takes for continuity purposes.
Eclipse is a small-scale independent music video with minimal set design but gave me experience adapting quickly on set and taking ownership of Production Designer responsibilities.
